As part of the Aurora College Mathematics Faculty’s commitment to extending students opportunities, we are pleased to provide details of the MCYA Challenge Stage for 2017.
This is a demanding, “take-home” problem-solving competition conducted by the Australian Mathematics Trust. There are separate Junior (Years 7 – 8) and Intermediate (Years 9 – 10) levels. Entrants need to complete the six competition problems independently, or in pairs, over a period of three weeks. They will also need to attend a 30 minute briefing at Residential Camp in Week 6.
Aurora College will again bear the entry costs for those students who wish to enter. It should be emphasised, however, that the competition is only for strong mathematicians who are committed to finishing the six problems.
To enter, or for more details, students should send an email to their mathematics teacher, or to Mr Whiteway.
